SOCIETY OF ARTISTS' EXHIBITION.
THE LIST OF AWARDS
The cbove exhibition, after a most successful i-ason" w ill be closed this evening, after the distribution of prizes. A flnancialjreport will be rpad after which the visitors will be favoured with a few appropriate remarks by his lordship ffishop Cowie. Mr J. G. Firth, Dr Campbell, aid Mr D. M. Luckic. As the commendable efforts of the Society are worthy of all possible encouraeement, we trust the closing ceremony this evening will be largely attended. The following is the list of awards made by the judges: Landscape in oils—No, 109, " Morning in the Valley of the Upper Huon, Tasmania." by W. C Piguenit, awarded the Society's medal. Landscape in water colours—No. 23, " A coming Squall," by J. Symons, awarded the Society's Flower painting—No. 47, Flowers from Nature, by Miss Wright, awarded a palette with engraved silver shield. HIGHLY COMMENDED. Landscape in oils—No. 103, "On the Chiltern Road, Victoria," by Isaac Whitehead. Landscape in Water Colour;— No. 22, "Ravir.e, Erskine River, Victsria," by F. B. Gibbs. Figure subjects—The Society's medal was not awarded in this class, the judges declining to do so, considering that the few works on exhibition were not of sufficient merit to justify an award.
