THEATRE ROYAL.—ROSE MICHEL TO-NIGHT.
The new Theatre will be re-opened under very favorable auspices to-night. Owing to the unexpected but extremely fortunate detention of Mr. and Mrs. Hall in Auckland somewnat longer than anticipated, these first-class artistes have been secured by Mr. De Lias for a short season, which commences this evening. " Eose Michel" is the piece which has been selected for the occasion, and it is to be brought out with all the "splendid mechanical, and scenic effects which have attended its sensational production in Europe and America. The play itself possesses dramatic merits of the first order. The plot is interesting, an(* powerfully worked out, the climax being reached only after a maze of adventures through which the spectator follows the performers with the most absorbing interest. The title role is played by Mrs J. L. Hall, and Mr. Hall takes the part of Pierre Michel. We have every reason to anticipate that the season will be*a success. Another popular play is in preparation for Saturday
