CITY COUNCIL ELECTION.

We must congratulate the ratepayeas upon the splendid field fiom which it will be their duty to fill up the three vacancies caused by the expiration of Messrs Hurst, Brett, and Holdship's term of office. To-day was the date tixed for the nomination, and at f jur o'clock the following names appeared on the board :—
