TDK report of passage furnished by Captain Steele of the Sam Mendel shows that this fine vessel has hart a very pleasant voyage from London, notwithstanding than some very heavy weather was experienced in tha Southern Ocean. C ncerts and theatrical representations helped to while away the tedium of sea life and Captain Steele has received a glowing testimonial as the unanimous expresion of the thanks of the passengers for his untiring exertions for fieir comfort The report runs :—On Tuesday May 80th, at 6 a.m., left the East India Dock; Wednesday discharged the river pilot at 2p m In the Dowds ; Saturday June 3rd, discharged the Channel pilot off Start Point, five days out; encountered then strong south-west windß, with thick weather. Passed Madeira June Bth, and St Antonio June 2Cth Had light N.K. trades. Crossed the line on June 30, thirty-two days ont On July 8 passed the ißland of Trinidad, hiving met with light south-east trades On Monday July 24 we passed the longi'ude of the C*pe, from where, down ti Tasmania, met with a succession of heavy north-weit and north-norfh-west gales. On the Bth instant rounded Tasmania, eightj days from London, and on ths Monday following, ■was off the New Zealand coast, with westerly winds. On Tuesday night sighted the Little Barrier, and anchored in the powder ground (at half-past four on Wednesday afternoon.

The barque Glimpse arrived at one pm to-day after another very fast passage from Newcastle, which she left on the 22ad instant.
