Political Meetings.

A fire, which destroyed two cottages this afternoon, was caused by a child setting fire "to tarpaulin and his own clothes, of which he had just stripped himself. Eaten by Rats. On Saturday an " old hatter " known about Tuapeka as " French Jack," was found dead in a but at Bungtown ; a large part of the body having been eaten by rats.
