The Engineer of the Waterworks sent up his monthly report. In this it appeared that the work of laying the pipes was rapidly approaching completion, and a belief was expressed that there would ba nothing to binder the water beiDg laid on before the end of the year. ACCOUNTS. The fortnightly financial statemeut was made, and adopted, and a return of rates and rents was presented. TBVDBRB. The tenders of Messrs Kirty and Gleeson, £241, was accepted out of four sent in for surface-picking Lower Queen-street. COUHCILLOR GOLDIB, ANT> THE SELLING OF CORPORA- . TION FROPEaTY. Councillor Goldie asked three questions of which notice had feaen given :—(1.) Whether two of the City Water Carts had been sold? (2) By whom instructions for such sale had been given ? (3) Who were the purchasers, and what was the cost of the carts to the Council, and the price obtained for them ? In reply, the acting-Mayor said it was true the c*rts ; had been sold by hiß authority, on *,he recemmemUtion of tlio City Surveyor. The/ had cost the Council £16 15s each, and had been sold to Mr S. Morrin for £12 cash, as they were much out of repair. Councillor Goldie said his object in asking the questions was to elicit the opinion of th« Council, as to whether it was right, that Corporation property should be sold by any officer of the Council. Beveral Councillors agreed with Councillor Goldie, that this should not be done. WATERWORKS BT-I-AWS. The draft of these regulations was referred to a committee, comprising Messrs Prime, Isaacs, Goldie, and Yon der Heyde. REPOBTS. The chairman said there had been an official enquiry into the mode of keeping the city accounts. four accountants had sent in reports. After some discussion the reports were laid upon the table (two of these appeared in ourassue of last evening.) Councillor Goldie havirjg given notice of motion with regard toj the removal ef night soil, the meeting adjourned,
