Repair of the Cable.

The following telegram was received by the Premier last evening from Sims and Taylor, the gentlemen in charge of the cable-repairing steamer Edinburgh. It is dated yesterday, and states :—" The Edinburgh returned to Port Darwin, having repaired the cable. The break occurred on a hard bottom on Sahul Bank. We have put down a heavier cable over this bank. The Batavia and Singapore sections were repaired on 25th July.
