Serious Accident.
We regret to learn that a very serious accident occurred yesterday afternoon to Mr. JohnHardiman, of Hokianga.. Mr. Hardiman arrived here ": with one of his brothers on Thursday last, and'ff /; purchased some new horses on Friday. Yester-J clay they went for a ride on their new purchases'' to visit their friend Mr. Nelson, at Mount _4l- ' bert. After a short stay, they left about three i o'clock, accompanied by Mr. Nelson, and were _ proceeding towards Onehunga when Mr. John Hardiman's horse shied at a cow and fe_l# throwing his rider, who fell heavily on the left side of his head, causing a severe and dangerous ;; concussion. After being removed to Mr. Nelson's . residence he was attended by Dr. Young, and still lies in a very precarious condition.' Luckily/! Mr. Hardiman has his brother George along with him, who pays every attention.
