Papakura Races.

The Papakura Hotel presented a very lively appearance last evening from the number of racing men there. The allabserbing topic was—horses. The stabling accommodation was well filled with the " Lords of the Turf." The handicapping for the hurdle race formed the subject for dissatisfactions, it being the opinion that the same is not fairly adjusted, some of those running their horses for this race attempted to arrange that the handicapping should be re-arl justed and and all run—or that none should runbut nothing to-day definitely wa3 settled, and at 12 a.m. it is reported that besides Mr Buckland's are scratched. 12 15. .There is a very large attendance, about 300 people have just arrived per train. For the Hurdle • Eace Saunterer and Stranger are favorites, and in betting circles M-iddy Ashore 4to 1. '*%! __ 2.30 p.m.'?? Euedle Race.—Eight horses ran. Paddy add Bob were scratched. Mount had a slight lead, but baulked at first hurdle. Gladstone cleared the hurdle first and led to the third hurdle. Arrow was second, but fell or jumped into a five-feet harrow ditch and stuck there. The race finished : — Limmer's b g Gladstone (late Tarn o' Shanter, aged, lOsfc 7ibs. ... 1 C Roberts b m Stranger, aged, 10st lOlbs 2 Wm. Percival's ns, ,bg Saunterer.P^S aged, 10st S'.b*. W J- PAPAKURA HANDICAP, of 100 bovr ; 20 soys to the second horse, and 10 soys to the third, out of the stakes. Nomination, 2 soys; acceptance, 2 soys; 2 soys at ths post. 2 miles. " Perfume led, Belle of the Isles third, Kingfishes in rear. On coming in sight of Grand Stand Perfume still led, followed by Kingfisher, Tui coming up. They passed tbe Grand Stand all of a heap. * Tear the close Kingfisher led, Perfume second, Isaac Walton third. The latter's jockey, when near the finish, brought him to the front.
