Sir George Grey to Stand for the Thames.
A deputation proceeded to fthe Kawau on Saturday for the purpose of urging Sir George Grey to stand for the Thames. They stated that a general desire existed among the electors of the goldfields conitituency to have Sir GeorgejGrey as their representative, and pointed out that it wrald be to the interest of his party, and beneficial to the community, under the circumstances at present existing at the Thames, if he would allow himself to be placed in nomination. His Honor referred to the obligations he was under to City West for nnanimously returning him on two occarions, but said he felt that he might still farther trespass upon the kindness of his preaent constituency if a tangible benefit to the cause of the people which they were fighting for were shewn. He ultimately weeded to the desire of the deputation and determined to contest the Thames district. Mr. J. C. Macdonald has, we believe, withdrawn from the candidature, and Mr Eobert Graham will, in all probability, stand with Sir George Grey.
