MACFFABLANE V. XOCKHABT.
Mr Lockhart having given his evidence, Mr George H. Brassey wa3 examined, and deposed that he drew up the bill of sale of July 30 according to the instructions of Mr Lockhart. Saw Bartlefct upon the matter, who acknowledged that he had sold all his effects for £378 Bs. They then adjourned to the Victoria Hotel, where Bartlett signed the deed. He did receive £17 from Bartlett, but it was for the purpose of paying an account which Bartlett owed to Mr Keatley, and for legal expenses to Mr Brookfield. Mrs Bartlett and Sarah "Pear gave evidence as to persons calling at Bartlett's house. Adam Brock, solicitor, gave evidence as to the bills of sale. He told defendant he could not take possession until the three months had expired as he had charged interest in advance. Detective Jeffrey deposed that Bartlett was Eober when ac the Nevada Hotel.
Counsel then addressed the jury, who retired for an hour, and returned into Court with a verdict for defendant on all the issues — damages nil.
