(From our own Correspondent.) This day. Ohinemuri and Tairua Roads.
A large deputation consisting of the Mayor and persons interested in Tairua and Ohinemuri waited on the Warden to-day," asking him to co-operate in urging the Government to get roads made to Tairua and Ohinemuri.
The Warden Baid he felt as strongly as the deputation the necessity for those roads. Sir George Grey and his .Kxecutivs were using every effort to have them undertaken. He would telegraph to Sir George Grey about the deputation, which might have the effect of strengthening his hands. A committee of the MayorJMessrs Jackson Brown and the members of the Provincial Council was then made and at their suggestion a telegram embodying the requirements was forwarded to Sir G. Grey. Cure. The Cure in the winze on No. 5 reached a depth corresponding with the new main level and have a nice show of gold on the bottom. They expect to reach the reef in the level this week. Crushings. The Chance claim ciushing trial of 5 tons yielded 7 ozsl7dwts melted. | The Tairua gold reduced in melting to 94 ozs 4 dwts. The Golden tribute has 2 oss 1 dwt. 'T^The Queen of Beauty's fortnight melted yield is 36G ozs 15 dwts. The water is level with the flat sheet to day.
