COROMANDEL
(From ©ur own Correspondent.) This day. The Bismarck retorted yesterday afternoon. The crushing is payable. Bennett's battery with 8 head is going on Tokatea stuff. The Bhow on the plates is improving. The Plutus all head going on stuft from its own mine. The Golden Mint crushing returns four and quarter ounces per ton. The Royal Oak reports that No 1 stopes are if anything looking better, and yielding some fair crushing dirt. In No 2 for the last ten feet the leader is making much larger and more denned than it has been for some time. Another ten feet should bring it on some gold. The Company have about 30 tonß in the paddock, which will be sent to mill next week. A petition is being got up to subsidise the Bteamers in order to obtain more regular steam communication.
The Tokatea. The Tokatea are stoping down a small block on the tribute leader, near the Oak boundary, and where the Oak got their last patch of specimens. The northern drive contract, No 2 level, will soon be finished. The contract in No. 4 level is going ahead slowly ; the leader looks poor in this level. Tke Van level is nearing the Tokatea boundary ; this level is about 100 feet above the Tunnel Company's adit.
The Royal Oak. The Royal Oak are advertising for tenders to continue the low level another 200 feet, and also to Btope down a block on the tribute leader near the surface before the rainy season sets in. From the manager's last week's report it will be seen that specimens are expected from the next stope. City of Auckland. The City of Auckland shareholders contemplate forming a company. This is as it should be. Foreign capital cannot be introduced to this field unless the minea be worked by companies. Speculators will not invest in mining stock unless the directors of a company can show yearly, a good payable property. Three Brothers. The Three Brothers claim, licensed holding, have resumed active operations after their late crushing, which yielded so well. The manager intends breaking down from the main reef a trial parcel of 30 tons. If this proves payable the mine will be a most valuable one.
