George Staple was charged with behaving in Queen-street in a way calculated to pro* yoke a breach of the peace. Serjeant-Major Fardy said the prisoner i was rushing about Queen-street yesterday, with a shutter-bar, threatening to knock everybody to "blazes." Sentence 20s and costs or 7 days. WITHDRAWN". The charge of wife desertion against Bobert Spears was withdrawn. THOSE NAUGHTY MEN. Robert "Moon and Ellen Whitaker were charged with keeping a house of bad repute in Edwardes-street. Constable Mulville said that from complaints made to him about a house ..in-EdwaTdes-street, he went there a few nights ago and found the prisoners there. They told him they were the occupiers. The woman lived there altogether, and the man came there every Saturday night, and stopped the Sunday. The woman herself was a prostitute, and the house was frequented by very bad characters. William Underwood said he lived over the prisoners in the same house. He could not say that the girl was a bad character. She was quiet enough when there were no men there, but when they came there was always a "jolly row." He always took Ellen Whitaker to be a respectable sort of young woman, and she was, so long as the men stopped away. Latterly he had not been quite so sure of the respectability of the house, and had given notice to leave. The ( detectives being in attendance at the Supreme Court, His Worship directed the prisoners to be remanded till to-morrow., THE BARON ABERDARE. Michael Boyle, Hugh Kennedy, Thomas Caldwell, Peter Ward—four seamen of the ship Baron Aberdare, —were charged with being absent from tbe ship without leave on the sth inst. .! They all pleaded guilty. Captain Edmonds, who was in Court gave the men a good character. At present he had thirty-five men left on board out of his crew of fifty-two. He could not spare bands at present as he was sending down a mast. The men left the ship in the morning, and were away three hours. Since last Thursday the men on board had thought they could do what they liked. In fact the whole crew had been quite demoralised since the acquittal on the cargo-broack-ing charge. His Worship. Indeed ! Then I must shew them they can't. If you like to withdraw the charge against Ward and Boyle I will discharge them, but I shall send the other two to prison for fourteen days with hard labour.
As the Captain coincided in this arrangement, Ward and Boyle were directed tp.be returned on board, and the other two were removed in custody. This was all the business.
