IMPROVEMENT COMMISSIONERS.
A deputation from the Improvement Commissioners, consisting of Messrs. Fenton, J. M. Clarke, Swanson and Isaacs, with the secretary, Mr Stevenson, waited to-day on the Native and Defence Minister at his office, in Princes-street. The object was the removal of the Drill-shed from its present position to another site to be provided by the Commissioners. Sir Donald courteously received the deputation, and, after the matter had been freely canvassed, it was agreed that the removal should take place on condition that the sum of £400 should be set apart by the Improvement Commissioners to defray the coats of removal and re-erection. It is understood that the position selected will be one affording even greater facilities to the Volunteers from it 3 nearer vicinity to the recreation reserve. Sir Donald Maclean requested that the proposal should be foimally submitted in writing, which being argued upon, the deputation thanked the Minister, and withdrew.
