The opening of Ohinemuri has been so often reported as on the eve of accomplishment that some will hesitate to accept the announcement in our telegraphic columns. But it is very well known that within the past few months proceedings were rapidly tending in this direction, and that if 110 unexpected contretemps occurred the hearts of the mining c__nmuiuty Would soon be gladdened by the announcement that Ohinemuri was really open to mining enterprise. We are not surprised that land sharking is stirred to preternatural activity by the near approach of the event. . On this subject we shall make an effort to place reliable data before our readers. That gold in abundance is at Ohinemuri is clear enough from the number of those who have endeavoured to save their interests by applications for protection to their alleged finds, and it is not improbable that we are on the eve of one of the most exciting rushes which this province has yet known.
