THE LOG BATTLE.

Lines found yesterday in the Supreme Court supposed to have been written by a lawyer's clerk :—

Oh, Christian men with spirits meek How fruitful are your quarrels, Stili fight in WhauKanoa creek And we will wear the laurels. Mill owne<s ! loggers! come to us And we may take yout pains out; 'Ti3 better than with blunderbus To blow each oihers brains out You may your fighting powers display To prove ye men of mettle, But you will never in such fray Your tempers calmly settle. Logs ! logs ! there's music in the word, Sweet, to old s*wa and sawyers, And sweeter th*n the voice of birds To interested lawyers.
