Bffecoe, and a candle lighted for the purpose of seeing who the man was that was injured. Bingiori examined the deceased, and then went for a constable. After he h d gone for a constable, the two prisoners f a,, deceased on a form. I told them to get Borne water to wash his face. Pascoe went to the well and got some water, and Dobbins held the candle while Pascoe washed tie face of deceased. Deceased partly fell from the form, but never spoke from the moment he was struck by Pascoe. The prisoners then left the house and went to the Queen's Head Hotel, but Mr Adams' would not serve them. I followed them to the hotel; they then went to the Army and Navy Hotel, where they had some more drink. I still followed them. They had a shilling's worth of beer. They returned to the house of Katherine and went in. Constable Maroney was in the house and nr^_^lcb^Rhe constable asked the Pri/!jgird7 Bif \hej had done it, but they dbnfed it. I told the constable that prisoners had done it in their presence. There was an old Maori man in the house drunk at the time on abed. Katheripe was also drunk in another bedroom. I believe the prisoners, though not sober, knew perfectly well what they were about. Deceased was also under the influence of liquor, [Left sitting.]
