Mr Hough's store, near the Post-office, and Mr Smith's chemist's shop were burnt £n at half-past 4 o'clock this morning. ; The two properties were valued at six and Longbottom's store had a narrow escape. The inhabitants, including Colonel Lyon, Mr Leary, Mr Shiel, and the force of the Coßstabulary contributed to save property. The temporary offices of the National jkak were likev.'se totally destroyed. The osh and books wore saved, but the fittings ffer e burned. Another house belonging to Mrs Dunn was burnt down in the afternoon. Jlr Smith's building stock and furniture W ere insured in the Royal office for £1000. believe there were no other insurances.
