Settlement in Otago.
Eeturn of Mr Gillies for Waikouaiti.
DUNEDIN. This day.
The Council last night decided to set apart thirty thousand acres for settlement on deferred payments. , Mr Gillies has been returned by a majority of sixty for the district of Waikouaiti, vice Sir D. Monro, resigned.
HOKITIKA. . This day. The county authorities have been served with a writ at tho suit of the Hokitika and Greymouth Iramway Company for a broach of the regulations under which the Company commenced operations.
