The Waikato and Thames Railway
Gold in the Middle Star.
GRA.HAMSTOWN. This day. A meeting of the committee appointed to urge the construction of the Thames and Waikato railway resolved, with reference to a petition given to Mr Gillies on 30th January last for presentation to the Governor, and which he appears to have forgotten, to draft a petition to tho House of Representatives praying that the Thames and -Waikato railway be placed on the schedule of public works for the present year. . Middle Stab.—Gold has been struck m the reef in the low-level adit to-day. Ihere is a promising show in the reef, which is four feet thick. Tho Nonpareil directors met to appoint a mine manager. There were ten applications. Mr John Primrose, formerly underground boss of the mine, was appointed.
