WATER SUPPLY. (To the Editor of the Evening Star.) Sir, —In a report of a meeting held last evening on the water supply question Mr Stewart is reported to have said that we " could not supply 100,000 gallons a-day, or a quarter of that quantity, and that our well was tried by an engine, and dried up in one week." Now we would wish to tell Mr Stewart that he has, intentionally or inadvertently, made an assertion without foundation, and in contradiction of well-known facts, as he will find on making enquiry that we can pump 100,000 gallons daily without any diminution in our supply, and have certainly never had our well pumped dry. We cannot understand how a gentleman of Mr Stewart's engineering skill and calebre, should risk his character for veracity for the purpose of carrying out his own views.—Wß are, &c, E. Seccombe & Son,
