LAUNCH.
An unsuccessful attempt was made this morning to launch the new steamer Rowena, built in the shipbuilding yard of Messrs Nicol, North Shore. After the ceremony of christening by Miss McGregor had been completed the dopr-shores were knocked away, and the vessel commenced to slide slowly down towards her future element, when she appeared to meet with some impediment, at?d came to a halt about half way down the slip. Attempts were me.de to move her, but proved ineffectual, and she lay with her stern in the water. She will, however, float at 'eleven o'clock to-night.
The schooner Lretitia, Captain Ohlson, has entered at the Customs fot Lyttelton, via the Thames, with Sls s.~c!'s wheat, consigned to order. The Flora McDonald arrived in the Manakau from Raglan this morning with 99 bales flax, consigned to Barnes ; S piss, Vance.
