WELLINGTON.
June 17.—Mr. Fitzhcrbert, on consulting his friends, decided to retain the Superintendency of Wellington, and has refused a seat in the Cabinet, but promises tho Government his cordial support.—Tho Provincial Government yesterday carried their- Highways Bill by a majority of one. No other bill has been made a Government measure, and tho Executive are supposed to be safe.
