PROVINCIAL COUNCIL.
FRIDAY.
In the Provincial Council, yesterday, after the usual number of petitions had been received, the Provincial Secretary announced that Mr. Kobert Creighton had joined the Executive. On the motion of Mr. Brookfield it was resolved that the Onehunga branch railway should be extended to the Bluff. The Highways Bill was advanced a stage in committee. I lie Estimates for the year 1871 were laid on the table by the Provincial Secretary ; and intimation given that the Financial Statement would be made on next sitting day. A report by the Provincial Engineer on the survey of a line of railway between Mahurangi and Port Albert was also laid on the table ; and the Council adjourned at 11.30 till Tuesday.
