TRIP TO THE HOT SPRINGS.
Yesterday a very large number of tlie people of Auckland " excurted" t_> Waiwcra in the p.s. Williams, and, from the loveliness of the weather and the scenery, with the total absence of mishap or disagreeables, the trip H.a.l BUfiP.PSsfnl onrl ]>l<-<ia<_T-t. ill fl>« _-*«~~~ After a smart run of one hour and fifty minutes, anchor was dropped in the pretty little indentation in the coast which forms the cove of Waiwcra, and soon the crowd of excursionists, landed by boats; were engaged in the varied phases of a general picnic. Bathing in the hot springs, below tide mark, wdiere the water comes bubbling through the sand at a temperature of about a hundred degrees, scooping up the sand to find the temperature below, and philosophising generally as to the proximity of the infernal regions, pleasantly whilcd away the time; and the quiet of that little glen, with hills closing it around, and the sea rippling on its beach, seemed to all a pleasing variety to the din and worry of city life. After spending about four hours at the Springs, the Williams again got under weigh, and after a pull against the wind, which caused some seasickness among the more delicate members of the party, landed the excursionists safe, satisfied, and happy about 7 o'clock. The trip to the Hot Springs has been an unqualified success, and we have no doubt that, after the carefulness, attention, and courtesy shown to passengers by agents, officers, and all concerned, and the harmony and happiness that prevailed, that the trip oss Easter Monday to the picturesque island of Kawau, in the same steamer, will be patronised to the full capacity of the steamer.
