THE INVERNESS.
A crushing of 47 tons of stone from the Inverness claim was finished yesterday at Goodall's battery, and turned out a heavy lot of ama.gam. There are 70 lbs. or 80 lbs. of specimens to be crushed yet, and the retorting is to take place to-day. Judging by the heavy lot of amalgam, the returns cannot be less than from four ounces to six ounces to the ton. The gold in this parcel was particularly coarse and heavy, and the lot of amalgam found in the boxes was something remarkable. The new leader continues to turn out occasional specimens, and is of a very promising character. It is found to vary from six inches to a foot in thickness, and it is now being driven on from the main level in which it was first met with.
