G. Armstrong, W. H. Moore, E. J. O'Connor, R. A. Shadbolt and S. J. Vogan The vacancies to be filled are for the foll6wing sub-districts Wainui District, Akaroa and Wair.ui Riding District, Akaroa County— tnree committeemen. BOROUGH OF AKAROA EXTRAORDINARY VACANCY JN the matter of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1933" and "The Local Elections and Polls Act, 1925," j and the amendments thereto: I HEREBY give Public Notice that an Election for One Councillor for the Borough of Akaroa will be held on Wednesday, the 22nd day of November, 1939, and I hereby appoint the office of the Akaroa Borough Council, situate in Balguerie Street, Akai'oa, as the place and before NOON on Friday the 10th day of NOVEMBER as the time for the NOMINATION <5f CANDIDATES. Each Nomination Paper must be signed by two Electors of the Borough of Akaroa and by the Candidate and be delivered to me, or addresset to me and delivered at the place aforesaid together with a deposit of Three Pounds at any time after the publication of this notice and before NOON of the said day of NOMINATION The Akaroa Borough Electors' Supplementary Roll will be closed at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, the Bth day of November, 1939. QN the Ist November, an instalment of the Registration Fee (five shillings) becomes payable by all male persons twenty years of age or over who are ordinarily resident in New Zealand, other than those exempt. Every person who is entitled to exemption must complete the appropriate form -of application for exemption within seven days after the last last day for payment of the instalment. Default in payment of the fee will result in a penalty of sixpence for every month or part of a month that elapses after one month from the due date, with a maximum of 2/6 d in respect of each instalment, and may also result in a prosecution. An employer who employs for more than seven days a person who is in arrear with the Registration Fee is liable on summary conviction, to a fine of £20. The third instalment of the Social Security, charge of one shilling in the pound on income other than salary or wages derived during the year ended 31st March 1939, by all persons male and female, ordinarily resident in New Zealand, who have attained sixteen years of age, (except per-. sons in receipt of a war pension in respect of total disablement) also falls due on the same date. A penalty of 10% is incurred on any instalment not paid within one month of the. due date. Further information, including details of the classes of persons who are exempt from the Registration Fee, may be obtained from any Money Order Office, or from the Commissioner of Taxes, Land and Income Tax Department, Wellington, C.3. J. M. PARK, Commissioner of Taxes.
