WEDDING
LATHAM-MONTGOMERY The wedding of Thomas Fitzherbert elder son of Mrs and the late Mr F. H. Latham, of Gray Street, Wanganui, and Hilda, second daughter of Mr and Mrs W. H. Montgomery, of Wairewa Little River, was celebrated on Tuesday afternoon at St Andrew,s Church, Little River. The wedding was one of interest to all parts of the Dominion, but particularly to Little River, where the bride and her family are very well known. Miss Montgomery has made a reputation for herself in many forms of sport. She is a good horsewoman and a wellknown figure on the hunting field; she can pilot an aeroplane, and is fond of mountaineering and other winter sports. Mr Latham who is a master at Wanganui College, shares her enthusiasm for mountaineering and hunting. The Bishop of Christchurch, the Rt Rev C. West-Watson, performed the ceremony, assisted by the Rev A. H. Barnett. Mrs C. Cradock was organist. The church was beatifully decorated by the Little River Girl Guides, with roses, dahlias, gladoli, clematis and autumn leaves. Mr Montgomery gave away his daughter, who was attended by three maids, Misses Ruth Wynn-Williams Nancy Teschemaker, of Marlborough and Mary Latham of Wanganui. Her two small attendants were Susan daughter of Mr and Mrs Gilbert Grigg Hororata, and Tony Latham, brother of the bridegroom. Mr John Ormond was best man, and Messrs John Rolleston and Ormond Wilson were groomsmen. Ushers were Sir Bruce Stewart and : Mr Brian Wynn-Williams. Bride's Gown. The bride's gown of finest ivory was cut. with a rucked bodice and full Alencon net, appliqued in ivory velvet, bouffant skirt over silk taffetas. The bertha effect at the shoulders formed long, sash ends, at the back. The sleeves were rucked at the shoulders and tight-fitting from the elbows forming points over the hands. The net train, also-, appliqued in velvet, fell from the waistline, and had a graduated flounce, wide at one end and forming three scallops at the hem. The long tulle veil forming a second train was held in place with orange blossom Her diamond and platinum necklace was the gift of her mother. Her arm bouquet was of cream freesias and pale tangerine begonias.
Vivid flame taffetas fashioned the bridesmaids' frocks. These were cut on simple lines with a double row of wide frills edged with a deeper shade at the neckline, wrists and hem. The stitched belts were clipped with filigree metal clasps. Freesias and shaded cream begonias were mingled in their arm bouquets, and deep-shaded begonias mounted on taffeta plaits made their unusual head-dresses.
Susan Grigg's frock of soft white net was ankle-length, and was finished with a sash to match the bridesmaids' ! dresses. She wore a wreath of rose- ' buds in her hair, and carried a Victorian posy of roses and freesias. The page-boy. wore an Eton suit. Reception at Wairewa. After the ceremony Mr and Mrs W. H.
