Annual Meeting. The annual meeting' was lielc on Friday when Mrs G. Al. Ham mond, president, presided over £ large attendance. Annual Report. The annual report and balance sheet were adopted. The Annual report was a; follows:— Annual Report 1935-36. ' "In presenting the sixth an r.ual report your committee has 'much pleasure: in reporting an other very successful year. Al though we have lost quite £ number of members, we have z few new ones and. our number if now 71. Ail meetings have, beer very well attended and we have ' had some very interesting demonstrations and talks. The social half-hour with its competitions and fun has been very popular. The annual birthday was e great success as usual; and members from all other branches or the Peninsula attended. The Drama Circle again assisted the Institute by having a play anc dancing at the Garden Party ir aid of funds. The Institute has again assisted in many differenj ways, selling' basket-ware for the Blind, donating £2 2s to both the Cancer Fund and to the. Akaroe Silver Band and' also by sending the Drama Circle members tc compete in the Drama Festival in Christehureh. The usual gift was given to four members' babies'. The Annual Conference was held in- Auckland this year and our president and two other members attended. The Institute has been brought closer to the Links by a visit from Lady Pinney and' also by Mrs H. Nelson Wright who visited several Institutes while in 1 England. The Institute helped the Returned Soldiers' Association again 'by seeing five dozen poppies. It' Is hoped that the Institute will be able to have their Banner ready for next Conference. It was disappointing that Mrs Gillingham was unable to visit us and give a talk on the Hospitaility Scheme, but we hope she will be able to come Moore Bros., 2 steers £11, 4 at £9 l'ss, 5 heifers £7 7s 6d, Gracia Estate 3 heifers £5 10s to £6 5s Miss C. early in the coming year. During the year we have; had several 'pound diays' for the distressed! and the proceeds were given to the. Mayor for distribution. We started the year with a credit balance of £4 Is 3d and end! witch a credit of 17s 2d." | The president outlined 1 the year's work. The meetings had been well attended and there had been a fine spirit of co-oper-ation throughout. There had been some interesting talks. She thanked the Drama Circle for the help given during the year; Mr P. G. Riches for acting as auditor and Miss Keegan for attending every meeting and l acting as accompaniist. She asked the new Committee to assist the new officers. She thanked the members of the committee for the assistance given particularly the secretary, Miss M. Jacobson, and the vice-presidents Mrs H'. Woodill and Miss E. Le Lievre. Mrs G. Kearney, Link Correspondent, read) letters from the Colehill Institute, Dorset, England. Mrs H. Nelson Wright moved a vote of: appreciation to the secretary, Miss M. Jacobson, which was carried by acclamation Miss El. Jacobson presented a •bouquet to Mrs G. A. Hammond the retiring president, as a small' recognition of her work during the year. The meeting then sang "For She's a Jolly Good Fellow." Mrs G. A. Hammond in thanking members for their good! wishes said she had enjoyed her year as president, thanks to the help given to her by all., Mrs C. Petterson on behalf of the Drama Circle presented Mrs F. C. Newton, Drama Leader with a lbvefly bouquet in recognition of her work and presented to Miss Keegan a beautiful spray. Mrs F. C. Newton thanked Mrs Petterson and said she had enjoyed! the drama work' and hopedi they would' have a larger circle next year. Miss Keegan briefly thanked members for the presentation. The election of officers resulted as follows •*—Committee, Miss E. LeLievre, Mesdames F. C. Newton, G. A. Hammond, H. Woodill, S. Naismith, , C'. Young, P.' G. Riches, H. Wright, Gordon Kearney and Misses D. Leete I. Mahon, M. Armstrong, G. Seymour, and E. Jacobson; PresidentMiss E l . Le Lievre; Vice-presid-ents Mesdames G. A. Hammond and F. C. Newton; Secretary Mrs C. Young; Treasurer Mrs S'. Naismith. Competition Mesdames A. M. Moore and W. A. Newton tied in a wordi competition, Mrs Moore winning in the final test a trophy kindly presented by Mrs W. H. Taylor. A delightful afternoon tea was served, the hostesses being Mesdames H. Woodill- A. H. Williams, R. L. Paterson and Miss D. Leete. Mrs H. Woodill with a gerbera daisy won the prize for the best bloom.
