SUCCESSFUL DANCES.
Akaroa Bowling Club. A very successful dance organised by the Akaroa Bowling Club was held at the Oddfeillows HaTl on Thursday evening in honour of the visiting sloops H.M.S. Leith and HJM.& Wellington. Captain Bevir, H.M.S. Leith, and Commander J. E. Hall of H.M.S. Wellington with several of their officers and a num'ber of the men were the. guests' of the Bowling Club. Tikao's 1 Orchestra provided the music, extras being played by Misses Elsie Keegan and Olive Kingston. Mr W. Brown acted as Master of Ceremonies. There was a very large attendance of bowlers and their friends from Akaroa and the Bays. Akaroa Silver Band. On Saturd'ay evening the Akaroa (Silver Band held a very successful dance in the Ai.B.C. Social Halil when .Mr E. Longdem acted as M.C. The music was supplied by Mrs Leon Bailfey, Mr J. Drum,mond! supplementing it with the drums. Mr Perry Minson, Christchurch, played the saxophone and an extra was played by Mrs EL H. Giddens. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss Lucy Hayward and Mr Ted Murray R.NLV.R. Mr B, Ferris acted as doorkeeper. A large number of Akaroa people were present including the Mayoress, Mrs F. Davis, the Mayor being prevented from coming by a prior engagement. There was a very large attendance, of the ships' company from H.M.S's. Leith and 1 Wellington alii of them being guests 1 of the band'.
