CHAMPIONSHIP REGATTA.

Discussed by Regatta Club

The holding of the Championship Regatta at Akaroa in February, 19-37, was Discussed at the annual mee.t.ng of the Regatta Club on Wednesday evening.

The Mayor, Mr F. Davis. Mr G. Wiielch and Mr W. Jacobson rxon. secretary, reported i.avmg met the. Canterbury Kowing Association onicials after last legatta when they approved of Akaroa's application and stated they woulu support it in every way. Messrs J. hJ. Armstrong and P. G,. Kiches reported that the Ocago Ro u in,g Association had also intimated that they would strongly support Akaroa s application..

it was decided to bring the matter before the Akaroa Progress Association asking for their support.

It is considered that as a Championship Regatta has not been held in the South Island for over £0 years that the holding of the regatta will give rowing a good fillip and that in Akaroa and on the, Peninsula the effort to hold the. fixture will be ger.eral.y supported. It is also expected solid support will be i'ot thcoming from Christchurch.

Akaroa is one. of the few places in the. South Island where a well protected harbour course is available.
