CLERK'S KEYS STOLEN.
WAIREWA COUNTY CHAMBERS ENTERED. iAlt the 1 Waiirewa County Council | meeting on Frid'ay Mr W. R>. Leeder, •clerdi and; engineer to the County, reported that after the l'ast coumcii meeting hi® keys had been taken from his coat .at his home and! next morning ithe council chamber- -was found •open, 'the safe had been ransacked aindl 2/6 taken, while from one of the ■draws |£EL .in silver and £1 worth o'f stamps hiacU .been taken. The papers and ehequesi had) .all' been disturbed' and <appiairien!tly locked! >through. "When he missed! the .keys the following he went to the council chamber and •found it open. The ikeys taken were foir. the couair cil chambers, the salfe, audi for varr i'ous whares .round the district. The locks had: been re-modelled to safeguard the 'Council aind a detective had been employed to investigate the matter.
