KING'S JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS
♦ ARRANGEMENTS AT AKAROA. 'There was 'a fair attendance presided! over by the ,Miayor, Mr F. Davis, on Wednesday evening when the arr rangements l for the celebrations 1 oif the King's Jubilee were considered. It wias decided to alter the arrangementis .for 'the procession, to be held next (Monday and) 'to hold it at 2 pvm. from th'ei .Aikanoa Recreation Ground 1 instead of ati ,7 p.m., to pliant the Jubi'lee o>ak oni the Recreation Ground, on the iSouth side of the .pavilion and; to cibfcaini -a supply of flags l for those taking part in the procession and the l .children. It was reported ■that a niumfber of clubs and other town organisations would -take pairt i in the procession and 'the iMayor said Ibe hoped there would be a good .dlis--1 pliay of decorated vehicles and tableaux, etc. 'to maike .it as attrao | tive as possible. He hoped also ' shopkeepers' would decoratei their shops with flags and bunting and j that pub lit buildings would also be: deeora'ted for the occasion. Stanley Park reserve in I the eveningx j lAi carnival balll will ibe held at the . Oddfellows' Hall in, the evening. It ' was thought that, it! would be bet tier 'not to (make- it ai fancy costeme ball, ibu<t; to havei coloured) bats and flagis and 'farncy dances. Mr- E. Longdew was appointed Master of ceremonies and Mrs P. G. Riches was appointed leader for the decorations' of the hall and !Mrs T. E'. IMciKenzie for the • supper ■arrangement's. It was de- ' cilded to aisk 'the Aikaroa Silver Band ito play marches, and patriotic and 1 popular songs during the procession. OHIEUDIRIBN'S DIAY, Mr IC. A.
