Narbey of Akf.roa, who has been retraining al the Ohristchureh Hospital I lias been successful in passing the Slate' Examination for nurses. n The Takamntua Dairy Factory Cy. 1 J received recently a report from the 0 i N.Z. Govcrnnienl Offices, Strand, Lon i clou, notifying receipt of 81 crates of I cheese. This inspection report of the Company's cheese at London, pei h.s. Port Alma, contained the followling coinpliinentary remarks :---"A i choice line. Consider this a desirable ! type of cheese." A meeting of the Akaroa Ladies , I Cinnmitlee, appointed to enquire inlt cases of necessity was held on Friday afternoon, when there were present ! Mesdames A. 'Shuttleworth. (in the chair), C. W. Aldridge, P. G. Riches, and Miss 'M j . 'Le Lievre. Apologies were received from Mrs Candy and Miss Jacobson. It was decided to hold a dance on I.3th. August to raise funds and to make arrangements about the dance later. A case of necessity was reported and it was left to Mesdames Aldridge and ShuttleI worth to investigate'and report. It was resolved to canvass the town on the pound scheme for food and clothing if necessary.
