♦ WOMAN'S INSTITUTE. The monthly meeting of the Little t River branch., q/. the, W.omen's Institute waa-heJd at the residence ctJ&rai T. Thompson, when a rose-pruning demonslration was given by members of the -Horticultural Society. This j useful demonstration was followed with the keenest interest by members of the Institute. A talk on plantingi roses was given by Mr Recce, and at the conclusion Mr Thompson thanked the instructors for their services. | I MOTHERS' UNION. The monthly meeting of the Little River branch of the Mouthers' Union was held in the Library last week, 1 when there were 24 members present. Mrs Galway, the Little River representative of the Mothers' Union in: Christchuicn, was present, and an en-' jnyable afternoon was spent. Several' competitions were held, the winners being Mesdanies Aitken, Trail and Rae The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdanies Lee and Marsh. OB ITU AIRY, j The sympathy of the district is extended to Mr and iM'rs F. G. Stanbury •in the loss of their third son, Allan, whose death occurred recently. The funeral which was largely attended took place at the 'Little River Cemetery. The services, first at the church and later at the graveside, were conducted by the Rev. D. R. Hay.
