COCKSFOOT

SUPERIORITY OF AKAROA SEIED.

Messrs Pyne, Gould, Guinness' Annual Review for the season: 19281929 which we acknowledge, contains a very interesting summary of the- year's progress as it affects the primary producers of Canterbury. The following note regarding cocksfoot is of especial interest to Peninsula growers.

"The area; shut up for seed on the Akaroa Peninsula was about the sar.,2 as .last year, viz., lil,ooo acres. Thl'quality was a great improvement on that of the previous yeai", the germination tests 'being cxceptiona'Uy high. The market opened at frotii''Bd. to S and has remained firm throughout the season. One bright aspect of Akaroa seed is the fn.ct that shipments have been made to London l at present high prices. This alone indicates the superiority of Akaroa as against Danish seed."
