The Duvauchelle's Tennis Club which opened its season recently is having- metal crushed in readiness for a second court as one court is not sufficient for members use. The new court will be levelled off soon and will have to Me about six months before the asphalt cam be laid down. It is hoped to- have the second court ready for next season.
The agricultural 1 Department are making a determined effort to have noxious weeds kept in check in this district and l we understand' aibout 300 notices have been issued to owners of property who have neglected to keep down noxious weeds. Under the new Act the Department have power to force landowners to keep down their noxious weeds and are going- to use the power they have to this end.
The success of St. Peter's Church concert, held last Thursday evening was due to 'Mrs Wilson's ' untiring efforts in arranging for the various items and in preparing the stage and performers. 'Mrs Julius assiste.d by preparing the boys for their plays and others gave valuable assistance. The concert goes to show what can be done with the talent available and the performance was enjoyable for both those taking part and their audience. At Friday's Vestry meeting a vote cf thanks was passed to Mrs Wilson and 1 Mrs Julius.
