SUPER-DREADNOUGHTS
A SURPRISE CLASS LONDON, January ]7. Home details have been disclosed about the Admiralty's surprise class of three super-dreadnoughts, of which the Hood has already beet, launched, and is Hearing' completion, and the Rodney and Howe which are weil advanced. They will be the ; world's largest battleships. They are only seven feet shorter than the ; Aquitania (8(38 feet) and will carry ' eight fifteen-inch guns. The ships will be practically torpedo-proof, fitted with a blister cushion, against which torpedoes and mines will explode harmlessly. They vviU have a speed of about thii ty knots and will cost >:3,500,000. A battle-cruiser of smailer type but faster, is now building. Two others are on the slips.
