OKAIN'S BAY ROAD BOARD.
A meeb'np of the Okain's Bay Road Board was held on March 12:h. all tho members being pieeent was read from the district agent cf the Ocean Accident Insurance, adjutting the premium f >r the current year. A peti'ion was presented from several ratepayers at Little Akfilo*. asking the Board 'o extend the whatf at Little Akaloa to accommodate larger ; but. as a sufficient prop-rtlon of the 'Cat t umber of ratepayers had not signed vaTic, no i cion was taken in the imt'e--, The Chairman reported having attended a meeting at Little Ak.roi to osbider the proposed addiious to the wharf; but, the meeting was very poo-ly attended. He had endeavoured to got the pile driven at the Okain's wharf ; but owing to tho busy sea aon had failed. He hoped to hive it done shortly. The pbundkeeptr had resigned his position at the Okah.'j pnuad, and he had temporarily asked tha Clerk to act until a successor couldbe appointpri. Mr E. W. Harris waited on the Board with a oomplaint that he l.al loaded up :he trolly at Okain's jetty with aeod, and in his absence, his seed had bern takes off and the truck monopoli'ed by an titer person. The oaretaker at tho e.hed had refused to Interfere in the matter. The Board considered that the trolly should not have been haded and left with no one in attendance, and that the caretaker be given to underat'nd '/hat the trolly is under his control, and that any person using lame must proceed with the work or giva it up to others requiring roue it. It was resolved that the fervices of Ihe caretaker of the Liule Akalon whaif be dispensed with after one month from date. The Little Akaloa m'mbrra r. ported some small repairs on t v e rnvls.
