Wednesday.

There was a fairly large entry of stojk, and a numerous attendanoe. There was a keen demur.d for store sheep, and fat lambß ■bowed a littlo improvement, but beef was rather easier. Fat sheep sold irregularly, but withou. much alteration in prioe. There wa* - a better sale for store cattle.

The yarding rf store sheep totalled 8656, and bolud.d a number of lines, mostly wethers from the North Island, Chatham Island, aud Marlborough, There was a keen demand for all classes, wetheis in particular telling well, and almost every line offered changed hands at auction. Tbe principal sale* were :—292 font tooth wetherß 16s lOd. 179 at 16s 9d, 158 at 15s lid, 203 at 15s 4d, 93 four and six tooth 15* i 6j, 224 at 15s 2d. 654 at 14a lOd. 263 two and four tooth IS* sd, 65 at 15a 7d, 204 two tooth at 14i 7d. 400 at Ws 6d, 217 at 13', 418 lambs U<> 9d, 155 at lis 9i, 295 at lis 3d, 240 at lis to lis 3d, 116 at lis Id, 343 at 10s 91, 155 at 10s Id, 100 at 9j 7d, 204 9s 3d, 170 at 8->, 63 four tooth ewes 17s lCd, 32 two tooth 16s sd, 118 four year old 16s, 331 two tooths 15a lOd. 98 six and eight tuoth 141 Id, 103 mixed ages 13a 10J, 162 at 1 ; b 3d, 98 ut 12s 7d, 119 sound moath 14a 4d, 98 at 10* Id, and 180 at 9i Id,

There were 2200 fat lambs penned, moßtly of light quality. There was a little improvement iv the demand, especially for prime sorts. The range of prices was — Tegs 15s Id to 15s 10d, best freezers 13s to 14s 9J, others lis 6d to 12i 9d. The Penin aula sales were: Mr R. Meaton Rhodes, Otahuua, 236 at 14a to 14s 6d; Mr M. Knight, Tikao, 157 at 12s 3d to 13s 9d ; Mr W. H. Montgomery, Little River, 78 at 12j 3d to 133 6d; Messrs Wright and Hooker, Wainui, 112 at 13s ; Mr O. J. BUck, Akaroa, 112 at 12s lid; Mr Withell, Ataatua, 80 at 12s 91.

There was a medium yarding of fat sheep including a number of unfinished lines of wethers. The sale was somewhat irregular, but prices were about on a level with those of the previous week. The range of prices was -.—Best wethers 18i to 225. lighter 16a 6d to 17s 3d. merino wethers 12* Id to 16s, best ewes 15= 61 to 19a 9d, lighter 10i 7d to 14s 7d. Peninsula sales were ;—Messrs H. D. and J. Buchanan, Kinlcoh. 402 wethers 18a 9J to 223: Messrs Wright and Hooker, Wainui, 12 wethers 21s; Mr R. Hi Rhodes, Otahuna, 49 wethers 19s to 20s 2d ; 46 ewes 16s lOd to 17b lOd ; Mr E. Osborne, Little River, 50 wethers 16s 6d to 17s 9d ; Mr P. A. Ansou, Piiaki, 67 wethers 17s 3i ; Mr K. Oraw. Cborlton, 26 wethers and eweb 16* 9d; Mr F Mutray, Greenpark, 30 wethers 15a to 16s 91. The yarding of 215 head of fat cattle com* prised a fair proportion of prime steerß and neifers- The sale was somewhat aull and prioes were irregular, with a declining tendency. A lire of 16 »teers from Mr T, O. Hay, Pigeon Kay, made £9 5s to £11 12s 6d. Other ttttrß brought £6 10a to £10 10s, heiteis *:5 17* 6d to £9 7s 6d, and cows £5 to £8 15s, equal to 20< to 24a Gd per 1001b. The dairy cows were mostly medium sorts, and they sold at. £4 to £8 15s. . Tnere was a fair entry of pigs, fats being in good demand, but there wt-re few buyers for stored. Biconere made 44a to 55* 6d, equal to 4£d per lb, porkers 35b to 445, equal to s£d per 'b, iar 8 e 81/oreß 25s to 365, medium las to 24.i, aud baconeiß 8-1 tJ 14*.
