Wednesday.

There was a fair entry of stock aDd a good attendance. Store Bheep were dull of sale. Beef maintained hst week's level of values, and prime fat lambs were firm at late ratep. There wbb keen competition for fat sheep. both on the part of exporters and butchers, and prloeß were decidedly firmer. The yarding of store sheep comprised 998, the principal lines being lambs. There was a poor demand in consequence of the contlnued dry weather, and several lots were passed in. The chief sales were ••— 50 wethere 15s sd, 150 l»mh« 10a Id, 176 at 9s, 104 ewes and lamb" 8* 3(1, all counted.

There were 2P59 fat lambs penned, a few lots being p-ime sorts, but a large proportion were light and unfinished. Though the prioe for lambr- at the works was reported to be r-ovrn _d, there was good empetifc-'rn for all prime lott», find they sold firmly up to the previous weet'p rates Urfinished lots were more difficult to dispose of, and graziers secured some of them for tupping off on rape. Freezing lambs made 12s to 15s 6d, and tegs up to 16a bd, butchers' lots 12s to 10-1. and unfinished lamba 10s 6d to 12». The chief Peninsula palef* were :— Mr E. R. Kay, Little River, 82 at 12s to 13s 7d ; Mr G. Armstrong, Akaroa, 28 at 13s ; Mr J. O'Rorke, Akaroa, 44 at 12s 6d. There was a fairly good yarding of fat sheep, mostly of good to prime qua'ity. Shere were 196 fat cattle offered, being mostly good quality, and there was a fair sale, whioh resulted in tbe previous week's price, being maintained. Ten steers from Mr W. F. M. Buckley, Hoon Hay, made £9 10s to £10 2s 6d, and 7 steers from Mr H. D. and J. Buchanan, Little River, £9 7s 6d to £9 15s, other steers brought £6 7*a 6d to £10 2s 6d, heifers £5 10s to £7 ss, and cows £5 5a to £7 7s 6d, equal to 20a to 23s per lOOib. '! here was a fair yarding of veal calves, and they sold at. 4- 6d to £2. There was a very dull sale for store cattle and a number of lota were passed. There Were 19 dairy cows offered, and they sold better than of late, best sortß making £6 10 to £9, and others £4 15s to £6.

Figs were offered in moderate numbers, and there was a. better sale for light baenners and also for storeß. Baoonera made 44b to 55b 6d, equt.l to 3,d to 4d per lb for heavy, and 4id per lb for lighter weights; porkera 30s to 38* 6-1, equal to 4.-1 to s*l per lb ; large stores 25s to 30s, medium 15s to 225, and weaners lis to 14s.
