LITTLE RIVER ROAD BOARD.

An ordinary meeting of the Little River Road Board was held on Jaouaiy 4.h. Present—Messrs Buchanan (Chairman!, H. White, W. F, Parkinson and J. 0 Coop, Correspondence was received f rom; ia essrs Field, asking that a thonsand yards metal „ may be pub ou the top section of Kaituna i* v Valley road, some culverts put in and other works carr'ud out before next winter. A discussion was carried on as to the advisablenes of borrowing under the " Loans to Local Bodies Act," with a view to metal **? aud otherwise improve the roads and bridges of the distr.ct, and the whole question was postponed to a future meeting. The Beard is strongly opposed to expending money on badly graded roads, of which ibere are a good number ; aud, as those were surveyed &> originally without any regard to gradient,.*'*the extra cost of taking over new line, and paying for the land would have to be con" "**, aiJered. From the American Bridge Company, intimating a cheap rate for which steel bridges can be erected. The amount received for rate-i during the month was £100 9i 7..
