Wednesday Messrs Mntson rvnd Co report :— The yarding of 1546 stare fheep was niitf ly made up of ewea and lambs. All classes W9t with keen demand at late rats. 7hf chief sales wire; —140 ewes and l*ml»s 12». <19 shorn ewes and lambs 13' 21. 241 at 12* 2d, 91 ai IQj 2d ; 243 at 9, 33, ai d 87 at 5a MM, all counted, 111 two tooth ewes 16i 4d, 147 eborn four tor.lh wethers 14i 9d, 183 hoggets 17s 6d, 137 at 17s, and shorn dc 14s 7d. There were 616 fat lambs penned, the qbality not being so good as the week before Prims qnality sold up to late rates, but lighter and vi finished sorts wero easier. The range of prices was :—Heavy weights 17e 4d to 18s. prime 15s to 17«. lighter 13s to I4s 6d, unfirithed scrts 11s 9d to 12s 9d. There was a mederate yarding of fat sheep nearly all being shorn croeebred wethers And ewet. Thoie was a keen demand in the early part of the sale on the part of butchers »nd a rise of fully Iβ 6d per head on the previous week's rates took plaoe, but to , wards tne end cf the sale, as requirements became satisfied prices fell again to the level of three raliDg last week. A few pens were bought for freizng.and a number of vn a finished wethers were tnken by greziers. The range of prices was :—Best shorn withers 18s to 2U 4d, light and unfinished 163 3d to 17s 6i. best shorn ewee 18s to 22s 2d, others 11b 9cl to 17s 6d, woolly wethers 20s 8d to 4d, woolly ewes 20a to 22b. Mr J. C. 0. Gtbbie sold 33 wethers at 17s 6d to 19s lid, Bnd 33 ewes at 18a 3d. Mr A. T'irdlirg, 70 wethers at 18« ißd to 19a lCd. I" fat cattif, values were eaeier by 2e per lOOlbs; Twenty steers from the North Island made £9 17s 6d to £11 17s 6d, and 25 at LlO 2-« 6d to LlO 17s 6d ; 7 steers from Mrsere H. D. Buchanan and J, BuohiiPßh, Little P.ivfr, LlO 15s to Lll 15s, and 19 heifers F/7 17e 6d to LlO 10s ; other Beers madl L 7 159 to Lll 17s 6d, heifers 16 tn 18 10*, ard cows I 5 17s 6d to L 9 ss, equal to 26'< to 29a per lOOib. There was a lart/e entry f-f veal calves, and they sMd at 7e 6d to 40fi, according to size and quality. There waß an unu6uallv large entry of Rood young store cattle. The improved feed prospects, coupled wilh the icarcity and deamefsof Krre Bhtep, caused a brisk de , mond frrm ereziers, and most of the yarding was sold at the following rates, forward Borta selling txceptionaUy well: —Yearlings 36s to 455, fif een to eighteen months 553 95i, two year steers L 5 133 6d to L 6, two y-eiir-b'eifers 15 17s 6d, two and a half year steers 18, three year heifers 16 to L 7 2s 6d, dry cows L 2 12s to L 5 17a 6d. Au average yarding of dairy cows sold at L 4 10s to L 9 A largi ynrdirg of pigs met with a dull eale, prices for fale being again eneier, while stores maintained thoir values fairly well
