ANNUAL MEETING.

This meeting was held iv the Council Chambers, Duvauchelle's at noon on Wedneeday list. Present—Messrs Biuce, Harris, Lslievre, Mason, Reid, and Petiigrew.

The Clerk took the chair and called upon the members to elect a chairman for the ensuing year.

Mr Pet" igrew said that he would take the occasion before the election of moving a hearty vote of thanks to Mr Biuce. That gentleman had had an exceptionally arduous year of offioe owing to the visit of the Boer Delegates, of the Premier, who was most gracefully piloted round a portion of the Penidsula under hie able guidance. Hβ had also had to visit Wellington to oppose the Weirewa Couuty Bill. Mr Bruce had done honest, good work for the Council and deserved their heartiest thanks.. He begged to move—l hat a hearty vote of thanks be accorded to Mr tiruce for Lis services as Chairman dnriug the past year.

Seconded by Mr Reid and carried unani inously.

Mr Bruoe, in returning thanks, said he had received great assistance from the Council and (verything had gone smoothly. He thanked them for their support. Mr Lelievre then proposed—That Mr Bruce be Chairman for the ensuing year. Be endorsed all that had fallen from Mr I'ettigrew, saj ing Mr Bruce had been a moet useful Chairman, Mr Harris, in seconding, also accorded his meed of praise. The motion was then put and carried. Mr Bruce, in taking the ch&ir, said that though the Chairmanship was a great tie, yet he considered it was wise for him to accept, because sc much work iiad been commenced that had not b=en completed, and which required finishing. He thanked them most heartily for their ec-operation, and trusted they would work together as har moniously in the coming year as they had in the past,
