A MUSICAL TREAT.

To-night, in the Oddfellows' Hall, we are promised the greatest musical treat we have had for years in this town A party of musicians from Christchurch are giving us some orches-

trai items, which would be a treat to listen to in any town in the Empire. Mrs Mitchell is the pianist, Miss Mitchell and Mr Riordan first and second violins, Mr Mitchell, bass viol, and Mr Sinclair, clarionet. The items they play range from classical themes and operatic selections to descriptive items, like the " Shanghai Rooster/ in which all the well-known farm-yard sotrada are most vividly and tunefully imitated on the various instruments. Mr Mitchell's excellence on the double bass is well known throughout New Zealand, whilst the playing of the two ladies of his family on the piano and violin, is well known and thoroughly appreciated here. Mr Riordan is a member of the Lyttelton Orchestral Society and is pdr-> manently engaged by Messrs Williamson and Musgrove to play the leading violin in the orchestra of any opera company of theirs that visits the colony, Mr Sinclair is a member of the Christchurch Garrison Band, and to him are entrusted the clarionet solos at the Christchurch performances of the Band. Such a combination is a rare treat in Akaroa, and we hope full advantage will be taken of its presence. As will be seen by the programme, many of our local amateurs are assisting, and several of these will have the unwonted advantage of orchestral accompaniments. By a mistake in the printing the front seats were stated to be 2s, in last Tuesday's issue, instead of 2s 6d. The prices of admission are front seats 2s 6d, gallery 2s, and back seats Is—very low rates indeed, when we consider the class of entertainment provided. The proceeds of the concert go to the benefit of the Regatta funds.
