# EASTERN BAY WANTS.
TO THE EDITOR Sir,—A short time ago the Chairman of the County Council stated in one of tie dfbetinga that the main ooach road was now in good repair, and what had been done should last for vta-s, Now ie is suggested to make a diversion fi om ' he Somerset Hotel to "Barry'a Bay, " which must cost a large ■ami" Is it never going In a rike them that they have had quite enough money spent on the said road ? And that there are others than those facing the coach road that have Council rate". What'f the Eastern Bays? Travellers \o the train have to take the Summit Road, Hanmin'a Track and touch the coach road at the foot of Little River Hill. I ask in all fairness, whati do they receive, or hnv<3 received, since the Council came in force, for the hundreds of pounda sent to the Council* office every year? Virtually nothing ! I'm wrong: occasionally the water üble is cleared on tbe gunapnit Roarl. lam not writing this to seek ft quiml with those gentlemen that have given so much of their time and labour to the Council busiuees ; still I think the time has oome wnen we may justly ark, not our portion of the yearly revenue, bat whal we should have had this last twenty years, with ompound interest added. Trusting that some more abler peraoo make take th) matter up, —I am, etc., J. 8. PRIEBT. Oborlton, September 2,1903. [Ur Priest had better read the account of the last County Council meeting.—Ed, Mail.]
