There was a decline in value of all descriptions, but more particularly in merinos and halfbreds, crossbreds suffering the least The local mills, haviDg secured all the fine wools they require for the year, wero not operating, nor were the large Home buyers, who bou.hb freely at previous Bales. The sale waß therefore a very disappointing cne, especially to those growers who htd held their wool in the hope that tbe market would have strengthened instead of weakeniog. As compared with the January sale merino was lower by Id to 2d, super hal_rred Id to lid, inferior to medium id to Id. best crossbreds _d to Id, ooarse crossbred. _A to $d. and pieces _i to Id. The " star" lota sold rather more briskly thon the bu'k lots, the local fellmongm being the chief buyers. The range of prices was -.—Super creasy merino 9d toTOd, medium 7|d to B|d. inferior to 7£d, super halfbred Bd, medium 6id to 7|d, inferior 4£d to 6d, fine crossbred 6d to coarse to medium 4d to s|d, medium lonowool 41 to sd, merino pieces 5d fco 7|.. halfbred pieces 4d to sd, crossbred pieces 2J . to 33d, looks lid to 33, and up to 4d for merino.
