LITTLE RIVER ROAD BOARD.
An ordinary meeting of this Beard wae held on February 2nd. Present—Meßere White (Chairman), (Joop and Gebbu* The Cleik's report waa read and considered, and it was resolved that the attention of the Akaroa County Courcil be c,\\hd to the unsatisfactory working of the stone crusher, through which it has ooet this Board almost double the amouut for oartiog the metal. . It was resolved that Mr Coop be deputed to ascertain the probable aost of carting by traction . rgine a supply of beach ehingle for the main and other roads, and report at next meeting. . Correspondence was received from the General Mtniger of New Zealand Railways, ttatiog tint, notwithstanding, the Tuesday train has started running, the greater portion of stock goes by the Wednesday morning* train- With regard 10 the first-class accomodation on the ordinal y tiain, that special notice was taken for.--.the past five or six wreks, and in no oaee wus t; c acoomoda'ion insuffici'nt, etc. It was resolved that the General Manager bo informed that, no later than on Wednes-d-iy last, several bt class paeeecgere were ol.liged to use 2nd class carriages, owing to c owding, and that this was nob ap ,sXQeptonal case by any means. Also that in r ferenoe to the time stated by the Traffio M mager at, which stock arrives at Addingt n, v z , 10 12 a m., experience has provd io thid board there must be an error as stock ha > been known not to reaoh the saleyarde sooner than between 12 and 1 o'clock,, and L.variibly later Relative to the goods traffic on the Little River bracoh, a backward movement hue been experienced since
the goods traffic alteration on the Southbridge biti.ch. It is therefore considered that goods Tor this (Little River) branch should be brought by the morning < r evening trains. For instance, goods ordered one day carrot reach their destination before evening next day, fnd on Thund ivs not till the following Saturday. Six mon'.hs fnither le&ve of absence wi.s given to Mr H.
