Wednesday Messrs Mateon and Co report :—

The yarding of all classes of stock was a fairly large one, and there was a good attendance.

There were 7000 store ebeep entered, lambs and wethers forming the 'greater part of the yarding. There waa a good demand for Wh these classes, and also for sound month breediu<? ewea. The ahief eales were 148 two-teothn 15* 6rt. 86 two and four-tooth wethers 15s sd, 647 at 15i Id, 50 four tooths 14s 6d, 215 at I4a 4d, 249 at 14s, 91 at 14*. 96 two tooth 13a Id. 94 at. 11s lid, 109 at 11« 10d. 700 at lla 9d, 250 lambs lie lid fco 12«. 281 at 11s lid, 305 at 11s 7d to 10e 81 300 an lls 7d, 184 at lla 7<l, 460 at 10a ?* to 10s Bd, 181 at 10 2d, 145 ab 9* 9d, 190 at, 8a 4d. 308 four- tooth ewes 16i 3.1, 50 two and four tooth 13a 4d, 315 soundmouth 9s lid.

There waa an entry of 3090 fat lambs, and with the exception ol a few of the smaller lots, they were of prime freezing quality. The market opened fairly brisk, but afterwards steadied down, and last week's rates were maintained. Frefzing lambs made 13a to 14s 10d, and extra to 15s 7d, and butchers' lot* sold from lls 9d upwards. There woe a medinm eniry of fat sheep, including some prime lines of wethers and ewes. Wethers were in fair demand for freezing, and sold at about late rates, but there being no competition from the export buyers for ewes, this alase showed a further decline, and at the end lot the sale several large lines were passed in. Wethers made 16s'to 19* 7d, and uo to 20s 9d for heavy weiphts. best ewes 16b to 18s 4d, others 12a to 15=! 6d.

Peninsula sales were Mr R. H. Rhodes, Otftliuna, 89 wethers 18s to 18s 6d ; and Mr W. Parkinson, Kaituna, 70 wethers 18s.

The beef supply comprised 218 head of useful sorts, though the quality was nob quite rqual to last week's entry. Competition was very slack at the start, and a number of pens were passed. Prices wern ultimately fixed on » lower level than late rate 3. and equalled 22s to 26a per 1001b. A line of five steers from Mr Anson, Piraki, ma3e £9U53 to £11,12 heifers £5 5s to£7 7s 6d. 'and efght heifers from Mr H. D. Buchacan, Kinloch, £7 10s to £9. Other sseers brought; £13 to '£13 7e 6d for beet, and £7 to £11 7s 6d for others, heifers £5 5s to £8 7s 6d. and cows £5 10* to £9 12a 61. List wcplc a linn of steers from Mee*rs H. Wharton & Co., Hiehfield, made £9 5s to £11, and 13 heifers £8 to £8 17s 6d,

There wbr a fairly large yarding of store cattle, including some well grown two year olds. The demand was not so good as of in [consequence of wet weather, and prices were rather easier. Yearlinge made 29s to 33r. fifteen to eighteen Imonths £2 10s to £3 15*. two year eteera £5 lls, two year heifers £4 14s, three year heifers £6 9s. dry cows £2 10s to £5. Dairy cows £4 10s to £10 ss.

There was an average yarding of pigs, a fairly large proportion being good storea. All classes showed a decline on late rates, baconers making 36s to 555, equal to 4£d per 1b ; porkers 249 to 345, equal to to 51; large stores 22s 6d to 28a, others 15s to 20a, and suckers and weanere 93 to 12s.
